Howl & Roar is a woman-led, Juno Award winning comedy record label.

Our mission is to support artists in the creation and distribution of quality content- amplifying a diverse range of voices and perspectives in the process.

Howl & Roar Records was born out of a desire to buck industry standards. Our goal is to help artists make professional quality content- while feeling empowered to express themselves and think outside the box. We’re always looking for unique voices and fresh perspectives, giving priority to women, BIPOC, and queer performers.

Since our first recording with Kate Davis in 2018, we’ve made albums across North America, learning lessons and picking up new team members along the way. Sometimes, we wonder if we’d come this far with our first name: Mnemosyne Records. But that’s a story for another time…

Allison Dore, Founder

Allison is the host of The Breakdown on SiriusXM, where she engages audiences with thought-provoking conversations, insightful commentary, and well placed humour. Known for her skill as a long-form interviewer, Allison dives deep into meaningful discussions, offering a platform for her guests to share their stories and insights. With a passion for storytelling and a knack for connecting with listeners, she brings a fresh perspective to talk radio.

In 2018, after many years as a stand up comedian, Allison founded Howl & Roar Records to provide comedians with support and guidance in making comedy albums by combining her firsthand experience as a comedian with her knowledge of audio production.

In 2021 she finally met Melanie Dahling, who shared her values and vision, and quickly rose up the ranks to become the second half of Howl & Roar.

Melanie Dahling, Second in Command

Melanie is a Comedian, Show Producer, Psychotherapy Student, and Pro Wrestling Enthusiast. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she made a name for herself as a performer and Arts & Culture Reporter. After moving to Toronto in 2017, she eventually found her way to Howl & Roar. Melanie caught Allison’s attention with an enthusiastic cover letter for a part-time position, and the rest is history.

Now, Melanie is known as the Second In Command around these parts, loving every moment.

Check out her Howl & Roar album, Greetings From the Big City, named best of 2023 in the Toronto Star!
